FULL DAY - GIFT VOUCHER Blacksmith Experience
a little early Christmas gift... SIGN UP to our mailing list to get 20% OFF your voucher
What you can expect from this Blacksmith Experience:
This gift voucher is for a FULL DAY
You will get the chance to hand forge a variety of products and generally experience the joy of shaping hot metal on a traditional Blacksmith’s anvil and under a power hammer. You get to take home various products that you have made from scratch and they will be talking pieces for years to come.
Be prepared to get your hands dirty, with this very ‘hands on’ experience, forging metal objects from upcycled materials. I will be there assisting you, one-on-one, helping you understand the art of raw blacksmithing.
No experience needed however it will definitely be helpful if you are comfortable using power tools, I will instruct you carefully and demonstrate the safe use of the tools and machinery, some of which you probably wouldn't have encountered before.
The main tools and machines used are:
A forge for heating the steel
An anvil and hand hammer
A power hammer
Angle grinders (cutting and surface grinding)
A belt grinder, sometimes known as a linisher
Wire wheel on a bench grinder
This GIFT VOUCHER is the ultimate gift experience - we will physically post you or the participant a voucher with a unique code that can be used to book directly on our website.
If you are not fussed about receiving a physical gift voucher then you can choose the drop down option "pick up" and that will save you the postage - just add a note on that you don't want to voucher.
Please note :
that only 1 larger item like a Cleaver or Pizza Cutter can be made per person with a MAXIMUM of 2 per day - if you have a group you will still be restricted to our range of smaller products.
UPDATE JULY 1st 2025 - New Legislation around Swords
Due to unexpected new legislation in South Australia, it is now unfortunately illegal for us to offer sword-making, even during private workshops. The penalties for breaching this law are extremely harsh - up to 2 years in jail and a $20,000 fine - so while this is frustrating and disappointing, it’s simply not something we can risk.
We’re incredibly sorry for this sudden change — it’s not something we could have predicted or planned for. That said, we’re still offering the full blacksmith experience and there are still plenty of options to make something awesome.
Please Note : Gift vouchers are non refundable but are fully transferable
What you will need to bring along to the course:
What you will need to bring along to the course:
-
Glasses if you need them for close-up work
-
An idea of which objects you might like to make
-
A water bottle to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day
-
A good sense of humour
I have allocated approximately a 1 hour lunch break, (it’s good to get some fresh air and have a proper break since the blacksmith workshop can be quite intense). so I encourage you to pop out somewhere local in Port Elliot like the Royal Hotel pub for a parmi or the famous Port Elliot Bakery.
Also, if you have any rail spikes you have picked up on your adventures, you are welcome to bring them along to create something with more sentimental value
